A large scale housing development has been proposed for a second area of Adel.

David Wilson Homes has confirmed they have applied to create a housing site next to the Centurion Fields estate that is currently under construction.

If given the green light the new site will be over three times the size of their Church Lane development, which once completed will contain 45 properties ranging from £499,995 – £699,995.

A public consultation is to be held to gain local resident’s view of the proposed new site. The consultation will take place Thursday 7th November from 4:30 – 7:30 pm at The Old Stables next to Adel St John the Baptist Church. It’s important for local residents to attend this meeting in order to air their views on this latest development in our local area. More info on the consultation can be seen here – https://www.facebook.com/events/544690175609846/?ref=22

Controversial Plans
Many residents of Adel were against the initial David Wilson Homes development on the brownfield site. A number of reasons were presented against the development including an increase in traffic to the area,  the destruction of natural beauty when other brownfield sites are available in Leeds, and the risk of flooding as the site was seen as a flood plain for the area. Members of the Adel Crag Association had their appeal heard at Leeds Civic Hall but were unsuccessful in having the Centurion Fields development sidelined.

Future Fortune
With housing a hot topic at the moment and in particular housing for first time buyers, David Wilson Homes has said a selection of the properties will be affordable.

The creation of this new site could see a the re-emergence of the faltering Trolleybus scheme as a new housing development coupled with a brand new multi-million pound leisure facility, in Holt Park Active, will see LS16 as an emerging social area.
