Leeds North West Constituency Review

The public consultation review into electoral boundaries will close in two weeks.

ballot-paper-voteVoters have until 5th December to have their say on the changes to constituency boundaries proposed by the Boundary Commission for England as asked for by the coalition government.

Under the proposed changes Leeds North West, the electoral boundary that Holt Park falls under, would be changed to Leeds North West and Nidderdale. This would see the new boundary incorporate some voters from Leeds North East, Skipton and Ripon, Selby and Ainsty as well as Harrogate and Knaresborough.

This would mean councillors will have to represent people across a much larger area from places such as Holt Park and Adel to as far a field as Pannal and Pateley Bridge.

Surrounding constituencies would also gain from the former Leeds North West constituency as Leeds North along with Guisely and Yeadon would incorporate areas that would formally have been part of Leeds North West.

It is estimated that Leeds North would incorporate over 30,000 of the electorate who had previously come under Leeds North West.
