Building work on the brand new Ireland Wood Surgery has begun.
The site, opposite Otley Old Road where the Wise Owl Pub was situated, will be transformed into a state of the art medical centre.
The new medical centre costing £4million will replace the doctor’s surgery at the top of Tinshill Lane.
The modern surgery will be spacious and have many major advantages including full disabled access and an expansive car park. The surgery will also have a pharmacy situated on site.
Christine Gaughran, managing partner of the Tinshill Lane Surgery, said: “It is excellent news that building work on the new surgery is starting. Patients, doctors and staff will all benefit hugely for having modern spacious facilities which will enable us to provide our high standards of medical care in a more effective way in keeping with the demands of a modern 21st century NHS.”
The Croft & Tinshill Medical Practice’s other surgery at the New Croft in Horsforth will be unaffected by the move.
The Ireland Wood Surgery is set to open in Spring 2011.
