Operation Alaska
On Friday 8th June your local NPT along with our Roads Crime Team and partner agencies, VOSA, Customs and Trading standards, launched another Operation to tackle metal theft and the travelling criminals associated with this type of crime. The operation was held in the car park of the Hare and Hounds Public House, Bradford Road, Menston and took in vehicles from the surrounding areas.

A total of 48 vehicles were stopped. 7 vehicles were seized and taken off the road by Police and Partner Agencies. 3 of these contained full loads of scrap, 2 people had benefits removed, Trading Standards found 20 in breach of their legislation and VOSA issued 17 Immediate Action Prohibition Notices which means vehicles were not allowed to drive off due to defects, 2 of the vehicles were found to be unlawfully using Red Diesel which incurred a £500 penalty. 8 people were issued tickets for various roads policing offences along with cannabis being found. Some excellent results I am sure you’ll agree.
