Golden Acre Open Air Production to Celebrate Bard’s Birthday

Golden Acre Park Merry Wives of Windsor

Golden Acre Park will play host to an open air production to mark William Shakespeare’s 450th anniversary of birth.

Leeds based acting group, Theatre Of The Dales, will present The Merry Wives of Windsor on Tuesday May 27th.

Noted as one of Shakespeare’s wittiest plays, The Merry Wives of Windsor sees a fat, old knight who only cares about himself try seduce two women at once just for money.

The performance will take place on the green behind the cafe and will go ahead whatever the weather. There will also be a showing at Lotherton Hall on Friday 30th May.

Theatre of the Dales has been travelling across Yorkshire with their open air productions since 1997 but this is the first time at either venue. David Robertson, founder-director of Theatre of the Dales said: “Both are such lovely settings. We hope to make them regular venues building up audiences over the years.”
