Yeadon Amateurs Have The Spirit

Yeadon Amateurs are performing their own unique production of a classic novel.

Yeadon Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (YAODS) are bringing to life Noel Coward’s 1940’s play Blithe Spirit.

The play centres on Charles Condomine, a supercilious socialite and novelist who is married to the acidic Ruth. To gather material for his latest novel, he invites an eccentric clairvoyant, Madame Arcati, to his house to conduct a séance. When Madame Arcati accidentally summons up the spirit of Charles’ neurotic ex-wife, Elvira, chaos and hilarity (as in all the best plays) ensues.

Playing the part of the panic-stricken Charles when his ex comes back from the dead is Paul Chewins. Paul has a fabulous list of credits, playing lead roles with many local societies. He has appeared with YAODS on two separate occasions, first as the lead role of Mack Sennett in “Mack and Mabel” and subsequently as Herbie in “Gypsy”. Katrina Wood takes on the role of the Ruth Condomine, getting to Katrina and Paul recently appeared in Bingley Little Theatre’s production on “The Good Companions” alongside Paul and they are enjoying being reunited as husband and wife for this current YAODS production.

The production runs for a limited time only from 5th – 8th October 2011 at Yeadon Town Hall, with performances starting at 7.30 p.m. every evening.

Tickets cost £9 or £8 for concessions. To book call 0113 250 3032 or 0113 250 5587.
