Holt Park Library’s Sharing Stories Through Drawing day to celebrate National Family Week was a success.

Holt Park Today caught up with illutrator Kate Pankhurst after the event and asked her to write an article for the website, here’s what she had to say

It was great to pay a visit to Holt Park library this morning to celebrate National
Family Week. The children’s library area was temporarily transformed in to an
illustrators studio, with children and parents taking part in drawing activities
inspired by some of the books that I have illustrated.

I’ve been working on a series called Danny Baker Record Breaker by a great
author called Steve Hartley, Danny Baker is a boy who loves to break world
records. The stranger the better!

During the workshop children created an illustrated collection for Danny’s
Beastly Bedroom, this included jars of toenail clippings, slugs and sticky sweets,
we then tried to break the world record for the ‘World’s Biggest Bogey’ drawing
(another Danny book), illustrated our own monster characters (from another
story I’m working on) and made them move using flick books.

After a busy and active two-hour workshop I was left very impressed by the
children’s unusual ideas and fantastic illustrations – thanks to all of those who
came along and took part!

Here at Holt Park Today we encourage you to share good news stores in the hope that we can encourage more events like this to take place in our local area. If you enjoyed this story then please like the post and also click one of the share buttons below
