This grass cutting issue has been addressed in a message by the local Adel and Wharfedale representative Councillor Barry Anderson to the those responsible.

Dear Councillor Anderson,

Last week I promised to drop you an email confirming our telephone conversation about complaints regarding grass cutting and specifically about arisings not being removed from the footpaths.

My call was to ensure that you were aware that I was aware of the problem and specifically the complaints that have been directed towards you, please accept my apologies for this.

Our teams are undoubtedly up against things at the moment, with the weather not cooperating at all, but there is no excuse for the arisings as left at Holtdale. Specific disciplinary action has been taken with the team in question and all teams reminded of their responsibilities in this regard.

The arisings problem is currently exacerbated by the length of grass that we are cutting, so in an attempt to reduce this problem, and increase our speed of cut I have approved the deployment of additional resources and authorised a significant quantity of overtime.

I know you have met and been in direct contact with our Leeds Operations manager who has my full confidence, however please contact me at any time should you wish.

Kind regards,

Operations Director
